Got the second weapon upgrade for the first time ever this morning. Still, I feel the threshold is about to be broken. It’s nearly as frustrating as falling backwards off the arena. Yesterday I got to 119-120 seconds on five separate occasions! Talk about frustrating, especially as the last attempt I was doing extremely well, keeping the spires down, on top of the super horned skulls, and then boom! A single skull hits me from behind that I’d missed. Once you get the first powerup, the shotgun becomes considerably more powerful and I use it a lot more. In fact if it’s not dead by the time the first super horned skull is on me, or immediately afterwards, I usually just hit R (the tick must go down in seconds or you’re a dead man walking). This way I can now clear the arena of everything by the time the tick arrives, where I usually shotgun the bastard to death in short order. I’ll use the blasts occasionally if I’m close to the horned skulls or there’s a bunch of smaller skulls just askin’ for it. You can nullify most of the skulls coming from the spires / generators with a carefully aimed stream (an unfortunate description!) at the generation point, and quickly flick the stream around like a whip to kill any errant skulls.
